About Amy

My style is warm, authentic and interactive

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a M.S. from Seattle Pacific University.

I am very fortunate that I love my chosen profession! Since 2009, I have been working as a psychotherapist with adults, couples, families and adolescents.

I have extensive experience supporting clients struggling with anxiety, depression, relational conflicts and difficult life transitions.

I have worked in a mental health setting, as a school based counselor and as a facilitator for parenting groups. My style is warm, authentic and interactive.

I have a private practice on Mercer Island, WA where I provide a relaxed and non-judgmental environment. My greatest gifts and teachers are my husband, two children, and my therapy dog, Murphy.

My Approach

I utilize an integrative approach to therapy based on a client’s needs. This model responds to the behavioral, cognitive, physiological and spiritual aspects of each individual.

My work draws predominantly from solution-focused, family systems, and cognitive-behavioral therapy and integrates mindfulness and strengths-based treatment and interventions.

More important than any specific modality is the relationship between therapist and client. Research has repeatedly shown that a strong therapeutic alliance is the single most important predictor in successful treatment outcome.

Most clients say I have a refreshingly warm and down-to-earth style that makes them feel at ease even when discussing the most difficult issues.

I take life’s challenges very seriously but also have a good sense of humor and often laugh with my clients as we sort through problems that seem so overwhelming at first. This connection is an essential ingredient to therapeutic change.
